Work on the new Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre is progressing well. The centre, which will be fully operational for the 2012 tourist season, includes both activity and nature zones. A novel feature is a safari boat ride through freshwater wetlands. Trials for the boat ride were undertaken on September 28 and were completed successfully. Meanwhile, work on the 18 metre high viewing is advancing well. This will afford panoramic views of Tralee Bay and will have CCTV links to the Tralee Bay Nature Reserve to the west. The project is an initiative of Tralee Town Council and is funded jointly by the Council and Fáilte Ireland under the National Development Plan.
