As part of the Kerry Wild Bee Festival 2026, now proudly celebrating its fourth year, we are delighted to host a special hands on community event: Planting Fruit Trees for Pollinators along the Tralee to Fenit Greenway. This engaging outdoor workshop is organised by Transition Kerry, in collaboration with Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park, the Irish Wildlife Trust – Kerry Branch, and supported by the wonderful volunteers of the Friends of the Tralee to Fenit Greenway Community Group. Join us on Monday, July 1st at 6pm, meeting at the Rock Street Entrance (at the back entrance of Dunnes Stores) to the Greenway, where we will work together to plant fruit trees that will provide long‑term forage, shelter, and habitat for Ireland’s wild bees. Participants will learn about the importance of flowering fruit trees in supporting pollinator populations, how to choose suitable species, and the simple steps communities can take to create thriving pollinator corridors. This event is suitable for all ages and is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to local biodiversity while connecting with neighbours, nature, and the wider festival community. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or simply curious about how small actions can make a big ecological impact, you’ll be warmly welcomed. This festival is proudly supported by the Kerry County Council, Ceangal Local Authority Heritage Programme. The Kerry Annual Wild Bee Festival is led by Transition Kerry in collaboration with Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park, the Irish Wildlife Trust Kerry Branch, and a wide network of Tidy Towns groups and community organisations from across the county.
